Cinco De Mayo Decor Ideas
Our
nation is rich in many diverse cultural traditions, and every year, events honoring
particular groups gain popularity. And who doesn't want another excuse to
celebrate?
It's
no secret that I love Cinco de Mayo now. Mexico's vibrant, fiery, and savory
cuisine and colors are ideal for celebrations! Here are some suggestions for
how to celebrate Cinco de Mayo
Décor.

Pieces
of fiestaware are the ideal containers for a few fresh flowers. Dahlias, the
official flower of Mexico, are shown here, but they won't be in season until
late summer. Any vibrant bloom will work well
1.
Rose of Mexicali: Use a doll and flower
foam to create a distinctive floral arrangement. Pom-poms, small carnations,
statice, and button poms are included in this Mexicali Rose. Her headpiece and
necklace were made by stringing hypericum berries on thin ribbon strands. Her
top was made of lace ribbon.
Using a doll pick from a cake decoration
and floral foam in the shape of a cone will make creating a doll floral
arrangement simple. The foam should be soaked first, then placed on a little
dish that is just a little bit larger than the foam base, with the top third of
the foam cut off and a doll pick inserted into it.
Using a piece of ribbon, you may
construct the doll a straightforward top. For the flower skirt, trim the flower
stem to a length of about 1" and put it into the foam, working your way up
from the bottom. As you approach the top of the skirt, continue adding layers
of flowers, using slightly smaller blooms each time. Inserting the stems at a
more upward angle will also help as you go, adding width.
2. Colors
of Mexico: As a thank-you gift for me, a friend brought these lovely hand-blown
glasses back from their trip to Mexico. With one sunflower per vase, I think
they make excellent bouquets.
3. Food
and drink:
Guacamole
Without
guacamole and chips, what is a parry with a Mexican theme? One of the simplest
dips to make is guacamole. Simply mix some Kosher salt into some mashed
avocados to make it simple. Add some prepared salsa for a quick boost. It's
still simple even after going all the way up. Here is a nearly foolproof
recipe:
·
Two mature avocados
·
1/2 tsp. Kosher salt
·
Fresh lime juice, one tablespoon
·
Red onion, minced, 2 tbsp.
·
2 tablespoons freshly minced cilantro
·
A little pepper
·
1/2 a diced, ripe tomato with the seeds
and pulp removed
·
Half the avocado, please. Scoop out the
avocado, remove the seed, and place it in a mixing dish.
·
With a fork, mash the avocado, leaving
some chunks behind.
·
Salt and lime juice should be added.
·
Mix well before adding the chopped
cilantro, onion, and black pepper.
If you
won't be serving right away, cover securely and chill until you're ready.
Add
the chopped tomatoes just before serving.
