The festival was earlier known as All Souls’ Day. The cultural belief behind Mexican Day of the Dead goes something like that the spirits are believed to come back to the world of the living for a day every year to spend some time with their parted family. It’s believed that the spirits of children and babies and passed family members come on October 31st and spend a day with their families and then leave. Adults follow the next day similarly.
